It is nice to have a car while visiting the Patzcuaro area. There are many interesting villages with crafts, ruins and churches. However, vans and busses pass regularly to and from Puacuaro during the day and up until about 8 p.m. After that, you have to take a taxi from Erongaricuaro to Puacuaro. It is MUCH more convenient to have a car.

So, here are the suggestions:

1. Rent a car in Morelia -
    about $300 a week (last
    time I asked ) - sometimes
    you can get a better deal.

2. Experience Mexico through
    its public transportation.
